Adult Basic Education
We are blessed to have Kathryn Thompson, Executive Director of Tarrant Literacy Coalition, teaching Adult Basic Education classes in the evening at our East Parker County location.
In Parker County, over 11,000 people over the age of 25, do not have a high school diploma or an equivalent. Obtaining a GED is very difficult for many and Center of Hope helps students with basic reading, comprehension and math skills so that they are able to complete a GED course through other local programs.
Adult Basic Education:
- Evaluates individual starting level of education
- Uses computer programs to help students learn at their own pace
- Utilizes a 1-on-1 approach to teaching
Our community has educational resources to help people gain a GED, but many clients need extra help to complete a course. Center of Hope fills that gap and instills confidence and self-esteem to help our neighbors.
Adult Basic Education is supported by other classes and programs offered through Center of Hope to bring long-term solutions for people ready for a new beginning.
