Developing Passion for Life
"I never dreamed that getting groceries at Center of Hope would lead me where I am now," stated Karen, a student graduating from the Jobs for Life program. Karen continued, "I can proudly say that I'm clean today from drugs and alcohol."
Special guest, Aledo Mayor Kit Marshall, spoke to the group at the East Parker County Center of Hope about having a good work ethic, developing skills, and having passion for life.
She encouraged the students, "You have something to offer. Stay connected to the people here as you continue to find employment."
Twelve students completed the Jobs for Life course and participated in the Advancement Ceremony. Each student was given the opportunity to speak as they received their completion certificate. One student said, "I had hard times and got depressed frequently.
In this course, I learned skills and increased my confidence. Today, I have a positive view about life and know that I can achieve great things." Another student added, "When I came here, I had no joy. Now I have found my joy. God broke me out of the prison of my past and I'm taking a new journey, one step at a time." Todd commented, "I have learned that things c
an get better and there's something bigger for me than working at a fast food restaurant the rest of my life".
The Jobs for Life Program is part of our mission to help others break the cycle of poverty in Parker County. These students will continue in a sequel class as they continue to search for employment and gain financial stability. Businesses are encouraged to contact us about participating in this Program.
