A unique experience – one that will change your perspective, perhaps forever!
It is difficult for those of us who have enough to truly understand the situations that families living in poverty experience each and every day. We invite you to walk a mile in the shoes of those facing poverty by participating in a poverty simulation –
Poverty, Parker County
"Opening People's Eyes to the Human Cost of Poverty"
The experience provides participants with the opportunity to assume the role of a low-income family member living on a limited budget. The experience is divided into four, 15-minute sessions, each of which represents one week in which you must provide for your family and maintain your home.
The simulation will be followed by a facilitated discussion about public-policy initiatives and what our communities can do to address poverty and improve the health of our residents.
As a result of this experience, faith-based, business and community leaders from all walks of life can share an awakening and open their mind to understand the dynamics of working poverty.
This experience is a collaborative effort in increasing awareness toward the real situations of poverty existing right here in Parker County.
