Who We Are
Center of Hope is a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to helping others break the cycle of poverty in Parker County.
We have location in Weatherford and Aledo. At the first visit, we don’t require a lot of paperwork. If someone is hungry enough to ask for help, we give them food.
When families come to Center of Hope, they receive short-term crisis assistance after an interview process. During the interview, we identify their income and expenses and develop a Plan of Action with them.
Some clients are unable to be self-sufficient, like the elderly and disabled. Others need help with follow through to get back on their feet.
We strive be a relational ministry where everyone is encouraged to discover their talents and abilities and find God’s purpose for their life.
Short-term help includes:
- Groceries distributed through the Food Pantry to over 400 families every month
- Limited financial assistance for utilities and prescriptions
- Daily meals prepared and served restaurant-style by churches, civic organizations and businesses on a rotational basis. Over 900 meals are served each month to all clients.
- Weekly employment listings
- We openly share the Gospel with our neighbors, but in a gentle way. We never refuse services based on religious beliefs.
We encourage all our clients to work towards their own financial solution and not continue on long-term assistance. Through faith, education and mentoring, we offer solutions for clients to become self-sufficient. Education opportunities offered to our neighbors in need are:
- Jobs for Life™ Program – helping those who are unemployed, under-employed or hard to employ
- Camp Hope Program – summer outreach in community neighborhoods to reach children in low-income areas with groceries, life skills, and mentoring
- Computer classes – introductory principals and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Power Point) and QuickBooks. We also partner with Weatherford College to offer computer courses on-site at the Weatherford location
- Adult Basic Education classes – helping with reading, comprehension and basic math and the East Parker County location
- Financial Management classes – learning basic principles and developing a personal budget
- Parenting classes offered through a partnership with ACH
Additional services:
- Drug / Alcohol counseling through a certified counselor
- Referrals to local resources to provide supplementary solutions
- Career key – matching skills and interests with career possibilities
